Grenfell Timeline

Photo: St John’s, Newfoundland and its harbour.

The timeline shows key events in each man’s life against the calendar.

Version 1 is still very sketchy but already suggests 1888 and 1915 as years when their lives potentially came together.  Both were rowing at Oxford university, for different colleges, in 1888, and in 1915 they just missed each other.  Both were in Boulogne, France – William attending his dying son, Wilfred doctoring there – but it looks like William arrived a few months later
